New or Little Known Features of Iplot Version 08.05.00.34 There are a few new items in Iplot for Microstation V2004. The first two things are noticeable on the dialog box itself. ![]() First new item: The option to "Use full paper size". When this option is enabled it allows the View or Fenced area to be plotted to fill the entire sheet. If this option is not enabled it places a .333" area around the sheet that cannot be plotted in. Second new item: You can now select what view you want to plot and how you want to plot it. There are several options under the "Plot Area" tab. They are View, Fence, Volume and Sheet. Fence and View are the most used in our office. The "View" tab allows you select the view that associated to your choice from Plot Area. Other new features can be found in the drop down menus. The first of these new features can be found under the "Tools" drop down menu. ![]() This is the ability to place a Fence without having to close Iplot. Simply select Tools>Place Fence> then select the type of fence you want to place, Block or Shape. When you select the place fence tool the shape is only available while Iplot is open. When you close Iplot the fence will go away. Since this version of Iplot is also used for Microstation J this feature can be used with Microstation J. Other new features can be found under the "Options" pull down menu. These feature include Archiving… Raster… and Submit… these are the main features that are used in our office. The first option under the "Options" menu is "Archiving…", and allows the designer to submit their plots to the Digital Interplot Server. Digital Interplot will be covered in detail in the section "Plotting to Digital Interplot". In short it's a WEB based application that allows the designer to make electronic plots of their designs so they can be viewed on the WEB. To use Archive select Options>Archiving. ![]() The second option is "Raster...", this allows the designer to control the overall quality, brightness, contrast and whether or not to plot the raster image in grayscale or color. To access this select "Options>Raster… This brings up the Iplot - Raster Options dialog box. From here simply make your selections and send your plot. One note on these settings, you will need to play around with them until you get the output you want. It is usually not right on your first try. This will depend heavily on the quality of the original image. Poor quality input = poor quality output. ![]() The third option is "Submit...", the submit option has been around for a while; however it's still a little known item. ![]() Notice the option to "Save IPARM 1 after plot submission" and Save metafile 2 after plot submission". By default there should not be a check in either box. If you put a check in the first box the second box becomes selectable. You can save these files or have them automatically deleted. NOTE: IPARM files can be used by Interplot Organizer to generate plots. The next item to notice on the dialog box is the "Copies" option. If you need to plot more then one of the same plot, you can set that here simply by changing the number. When you exit Iplot the number reverts back to 1. |
