Copying Reference File Clipped Attributes
If you ever need to reference another clipped/rotated/scaled portion of a file for Plan/Profile sheets (or some other reason) that has the same clipping boundaries as a file already attached and clipped, try this: Open the MicroStation file that contains the reference file for copying the clipping attributes. Invoke the References dialog, File > Reference. Highlight the reference file to copy, (as shown below):
The Copy Attachment dialog appears, (as shown below):
The prompt will ask for "Enter point to copy from"... Data point some unique point in the file. The prompt will ask for "Enter point to copy to"... Data point the same unique point. An exact copy of that selected reference file now should appear (at the bottom) of the References dialog box, (with a "-1" added to the end of the logical name). Right click the copied reference file and select Properties, (as shown below):
The Attachment Settings dialog will appear, (as shown below):
Select the Browse button and browse to the actual new file that you want to reference in to the same sheet, and press OK, (as shown below):
The new file will now appear in the References dialog containing the graphics from that file and it will inherit the same clipped attributes as the original reference file.
