What are the differences between a Print Queue and a Plot Queue? On each of the workstation are two types of queues. They are print queues and plot queues. There are several differences between them, the two main differences being the networks they run on and the intended use for them. Print Queue: The print queue is operated through the Novell network and used for printing from our standard office applications such as Microsoft Word. Excel or Power Point. Plot Queue: The plot queue is operated through the Microsoft Network and is used for plotting output from MicroStation. Though most of the plot queues can receive output from office applications like Word or Excel, generally you print to a print queue and plot to a plot queue (except for Geo-Report... Geo-Report must be sent to a plot queue in order to print correctly). How can you tell the difference? When you look at your list of printer/plotters a print queue will look something like this: PR_CaddRM_DJ800.OFFICE.WFL.FLHD.FHWA on FLHD_TREE A plot queue will look something like this: WA8550N_17 on FHFL17C5 or WA_8550 on FHFL17C6 To remove a plot queue simply go to your list of printer/plotters and select the desired queue then press the Delete key on your keyboard or right click on the queue and select Delete from the list of options. |
