FHWA is currently developing Fish Passage for Bridge and Culverts, Hydraulic Engineering Circular-26. Until HEC-26 is completed, WFLHD will apply flow roughness simulation methods that attempt to create depths and velocities within the culvert barrel that are comparable to the natural stream channel. Thus, the barrel of the culvert is no more of a barrier to migrating fish than the natural stream channel for comparable flow conditions.
