TO GENERATE THE CLEARING LIMITS:
This routine will draw lines representing the Limits of Clearing
in a Plan view .DGN file. This is a custom "3 Port Criteria"
application written by Central Federal Lands. This
application requires Geopak 2001.
FIRST OF ALL YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
- The criteria file (clearing_limits_plan.3pc). I've placed this on
our server. No need to worry about it though... it's path is taken care of
within the server version of Metric.ddb.
- Metric.ddb (the server version which includes the "Draw Clearing
Limits in Plan View" item). An example of this is shown farther down
in the documentation. The server version of Metric.ddb has been placed under.......F:\Resource\Geopak\Ddbs\
- The Macros (ClearLimit.bas & ClearLimit.ba), placed in
the Macros directory. I've also placed these on our server. Once again, no
need to worry about these for "in-house" workstations, as they are
already setup to point to the Marcos directory on the server.
- A Clearing Report (ASCII text file) generated from your finished
Cross Sections. For instructions on how to generate the Clearing Report, click
here.
- A .DGN file (Plan View) for displaying your clearing limits graphically.
This should be the same .DGN file that contains your horizontal and vertical
alignments.
Next....
Open the "Plan view" .DGN file that contains your horizontal alignment.
- Invoke the D&C Manager, using the Geopak Tools icons
(as shown below). Be sure that the path is set to F:\Resource\Geopak\Ddbs\Metric.ddb
(for metric jobs). Set it to F:\Resource\Geopak\Ddbs\English.ddb (for
english jobs).

- Be sure that the "mode" for the D&C Manager
is set to "Design", (illustrated by the depressed little
pencil icon shown above). Browse to the 3PC Applications Category
and double click on Draw Clearing Limits in Plan View. The dialog below
will appear:

- Select the Clearing Report file from your working directory, and
press OK. For instructions on how to generate the Clearing
Report, click here. When this is done,
the "Draw Construction Limits" dialog (shown below) will
appear.

- Input the chain name, job number and element symbology.
When finished, press OK. You will be given one more chance to make
sure of the chain name, before the application processes your instructions.
That dialog is shown below:

- If that is the correct name of your chain... press OK. The Clearing
Limit lines will be drawn in the Plan view .dgn file to the symbology defined
in step 4. An example is shown below:
