TO MAKE THE 3D TRIANGLE FILE:

• Copy one of the 3D files listed below from the F:\Resource\Seed directory to your working directory (name it whatever you want) and get into it.

Metric_3D.dgn (metric 3D file)

English_3D.dgn (english 3D file)

To invoke the DTM Tools palette, select:

APPLICATIONS > GEOPAK ROAD > DTM TOOLS and then click on the DTM Menu icon:
 

• From the "GEOPAK - DTM 2000" palette shown below:

Select... LOAD > DTM FEATURE



... and the dialog box below will appear:
 

Select TIN from the Load File options, and select the TIN file using the Files button.

Single click on Triangles, and set the appropriate element symbology for the triangles to be drawn.

Single click Load

Then...Fit view

GENERAL NOTE:  The Load Triangles dialog box may come up with "Display Only" checked.  This option only temporarily visualizes the triangles.  To actually draw the triangle elements into the file, uncheck this option, as shown above.

RENDERING NOTE:  The typical Global Lighting settings used by our survey branch are shown below.   Be sure to have the Solar option checked, as shown below.

The Global Lighting dialog box is accessed via the MicroStation pulldowns:   Settings > Rendering > Global Lighting.

Toggle the Solar option ON
