CREATE RADIAL (ROW) STAKING NOTES... via 3PC

Here is a method for providing an electronic file (that can be uploaded to a data collector) for staking a variety of Right-of-Way types such as: This application uses Geopak's new technology, (3 Port Criteria).  It was originally written by Chuck Lawson, Geopak Corp., and has since been modified and customized by Chuck and myself to comply with WFLHD's unique requirements.

The credit here goes to Chuck.  This is very cool!

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Geopak 2000 or Geopak 2001

  2.
  3. A plan view file (specifically named 3PC_ROW.dgn) that contains the elements that represent the feature, such as Proposed Right-of-Way, Existing Right-of-Way, Temporary and/or Permanent Easements.
  4. NOTES:
These elements MUST be drawn to WFLHD's standard symbologies.

This file must also contain your plotted chain.
  5. Access to Metric.ddb (dated no earlier than 7/26/2001) located under F:\Resource\Geopak\DDBS\

  6. Access to wflhd_ascii_row.x, (dated no earlier than 7/26/2001) located under F:\Resource\Geopak\X\
  7. NOTES:
If you are connected to WFLHD's server.... you already have access to these 2 files mentioned above.
If running standalone, you will need assistance from me.
  8. The GPK file that contains the chain for your design alignment.

  9.
  10. It would also help if you have Excel, (for easy sorting of the data later).
Open your MicroStation file "3PC_ROW.dgn", (listed above as a requirement)
Invoke the Design and Computation Manager, (D&C Manager) and make sure that the path for specifying the .ddb is set to F:\Resource\Geopak\DDBS\Metric.ddb

Double click on the category 3PC.  This will reveal 2 more categories:

Double click on the category 3PC Applications.  This will reveal the "item" ROW Report ASCII Right of Way Report, (as shown below):

"Fit" your MicroStation  view and double click on the item ROW Report ASCII Right of Way Report.  The application will prompt for several pieces of information:

This is the value for searching left and right of the chain.

  Key in your job number.

  Key in your chain name.

Key in the increment for calculation.

".csv" extension  works great with Excel.

Key in desired beginning station of calculations.

  Select the beginning Region number.

Key in desired ending station of calculations.

  Select the ending Region number.

NOW...... what just happened is, the application selected all of your ROW elements, (that comply with WFLHD's drafting standards) contained within 3PC_ROW.dgn and using the values shown in the dialogs above, calculated..... Stations, Offsets, Northings, Eastings, Descriptions and a variety of other information used by our surveyors... such as feature codes and point numbers.

HOW IT WORKS:

WHAT YOU GET:

An example of the ASCII file is shown below:

The surveyors should be able to use the electronic copy of this file for uploading into their instruments.
