TO MAKE THE 3D TRIANGLE FILE:

Create a new 3D DGN file from one of the seed files listed below, (name it whatever you want) and open the file:

.X21 Generation of Criteria files/Level Libraries:
(all seed files reside within the same folder)

F:\V8_Resource\X_21\Standards\seed\
  • Metric_3D.dgn (all Metric projects)
  • US_Sur3D.dgn (AK, WA, ID, WY) ... use "Survey Foot".
  • US_Int3D.dgn (MT, OR) ... use "International Foot".
.X30 Generation of Criteria files/Level Libraries:
(seed files reside within separate subfolders)
F:\V8_Resource\X_30\Standards\seed\Metric\
  • Metric_3D.dgn (all Metric projects)
F:\V8_Resource\X_30\Standards\seed\English\
  • Sur_ft3D.dgn (AK, WA, ID, WY) ... use "Survey Foot".
  • Int_ft3D.dgn (MT, OR) ... use "International Foot".

To invoke the DTM Tools dialog, select: APPLICATIONS > GEOPAK ROAD > DTM TOOLS and then click on the DTM Menu icon:

From the "DTM" dialog shown below: Select... LOAD > DTM FEATURE


The Load DTM Features dialog will appear as shown below:

Select TIN from the Load File options, and browse to the TIN file using the Select Files button. Select the TIN file.

Single click on Triangles, and set the appropriate element symbology for the triangles to be drawn.

Single click Load.

Select the MicroStation command Fit view and data point the screen.

GENERAL NOTE:  The Load DTM Features dialog box may come up with "Display Only" checked.  This option only temporarily visualizes the triangles.  To actually draw the triangle elements into the file, uncheck this option, as shown above.
